June 28th -- Lamorinda Produce Exchange Meetup, 10:00 a.m.

Hello Folks.

We will convene in Lafayette 10:00 in the morning on June 28th. Coffee will be provided, and probably some baked goods. As folks RSVP I will update the list of probable crops available for barter (or sale on the DL, as we don't want to exclude people who aren't gardening but want to be involved!) So far we expect to have;

fresh free range eggs
breads
plums (tart cherry plums, santa rosas, others)
tomatoes
beans (assorted types)
kaffir lime leaf
oregano
mint
sage
pineapple sage
nasturtium flowers
basil
summer squash / squash blossom

Please spread the word, invite friends, and let us know if you're coming, if you're bringing something, etc. Remember, this will be much more meaningful and effective the more people participate.

Amy, come by the non-profit table if you come next week I'd love to meet you. In fact if you had little cards with info about the Hyperlocavore group I know people would pick them up. The non-profit table is on the lawn - Sustainable Lafayette is there as well as others.

I hope all you Hyperlocavores have made it to the trail Lafayette Farmer's Market. There is one more next Thursday 9/17 from 4 - 8. I was volunteering there and talked to many people who want to know what they can do with their extra backyard produce. I mentioned this group several times. Is there another exchange planned?

Thanks Amy and Chris for a most fabulous party! The spread of homemade pastries, bread and coffee was fantastic. The share table was a gorgeous cornucopia of herbs, flowers, squashes, fruits, eggs, wine and seeds. I can't wait to see what the next one looks like when the gardens get into full swing. Matt wants your kolache recipe Amy, he said they taste just like his Mother's. Barb, the jam is wonderful. I did not know my plums could taste that good. The Zinfandel from LangeTwins sustainable vineyard Lodi www.langetwins.com is awesome! It hides its high alcohol content very well :) I hope you guys have success with the watercress and nasturtium seeds, and that the arugula seedlings take off for you. What a great group of people. I'm looking forward to seeing you all again soon.

Great gathering! Great Group!

Still kinda early in the season for any volume of produce, but we got creative with rooted herbs, plums, seeds, flowers, lessons in raising chickens, discussion on best types of fruit trees, jam from one member made from anothers homegrown plums, even owner bottled wine!
A perpfect start to the season.

Thanks for hosting at your beautiful home Amy and Chris.
