Hello!  I am new to Hyperlocavor and have some space to share.  I would like to remove the largish  lawn in my front yard and replace with raised beds and a few fruit trees.  I plan on starting small (front yard) and if all goes well, I have a large backyard space that I may also convert.

Looking to offer yardshare for fellow gardener interested in helping to covert the space (any help is appreciated) and share in maintenance of the space during the year.  If you are handy with a hammer and are itching to "grow your own" organic garden, please contact me.

Look forward to diggin' in ther dirt!

Laura

Hey Margaret. The site tends to get a lot more traffic Spring and Summer. Keep checking in!

Hello out there!  Doesn't appear to be muche activity here lately.  These comments have cobwebs!  I am a newcomer to this group.  I am a personal chef, I know how to can and make pickled veggies and possibly a thing or two about gardening.  I miss having a yard!  Let me know if you have space for me!

Hi. I'm in Santa Clara, near Scott and Homestead. I have a largish yard with a few established fruit trees (apple, cherry, orange, lemon, blood orange) and quite a bit of space that's not accomplishing much, yet. I've gardened my way a little further into the weed patch each year, but if any enthusiastic apartment dwellers would like to lend hands, companionship, or advice (particularly as regards planning what and where to plant), please get in touch.

I also have home canning equipment and experience, in case anyone is harvesting bumper crops this season and would like to learn a bit about preserving. I have no pressure canner yet, so I'll need to stick to acid foods: fruit, including tomatoes, and pickles. Non-acid veggies that aren't pickled could be dried or frozen, instead.

I'd like to get started with cool season veggies about now, but it's never been a strong point. I do have some onion seed on its way and I'm trying a bit of lettuce. I have seeds for several cover crops to plant later this month, in hopes of building the soil and keeping the weeds down in the direction I'm going.

I just discovered this site and before I joined hyperlocavore.com tonight, I posted an ad in Carigslist and got four people right away to help me with my yard and we have our first work day tomorrow 2/28. I believe my yard can handle and produce enough food for four people. If any of my current group bails for any reason, is anybody else interested in helping out? I would need to interview anybody who is interested to ensure a personality match. I live near the Almaden Valley/Los Gatos border of San Jose.

Hi all, my family and I are moving to the area (Sunnyvale) in a few weeks. I've started a South Bay group and would really like to find some dirt to grow a garden in.
